BACnet Device-Address-Binding-Error
Occurs when a BACnet device cannot resolve its network address or bind to an MS/TP MAC address. The device may appear unreachable or fail to respond to Who-Is/I-Am.
Common Causes
- Duplicate BACnet device instance numbers on the network
- MS/TP MAC address conflicts or out-of-range values
- BBMD or router misconfiguration blocking address resolution
- Device firmware bug or incomplete network stack initialization
Fix Steps
- Verify no duplicate device instance numbers: run Who-Is and check I-Am responses.
- Ensure MS/TP MAC addresses are unique and within valid range (0โ127).
- Check BBMD/router configuration for correct foreign device registration.
- Power-cycle the device and confirm network parameters in firmware.
- Update device firmware if binding errors persist after config review.
